La Jolla High School
La Jolla high is one of the top public high schools in America. Year after year LJHS receives top academic honors. USA today ranked the LJHS in the top 20 public high schools in America. It is part of the San Diego Unified School District.
LJHS is a school with a strong emphasis on academic achievement. Over 90% of the graduates continue their education at universities and colleges, with a significant number attending Ivy League, out-of-state, and University of California institutions. If you are a fan of public high schools, you will be very pleased with La Jolla High. Several of my children attended La Jolla High School. They went on to USC, Santa Clara University and University of Colorado – we were very pleased with their education.
La Jolla is home to the University of California San Diego. UCSD is one of the preeminent science schools in the world. Adjacent to the UCSD campus is a research park full of firms which have spun off from the UCSD science and engineering programs. Because of this, LJHS has a fantastic science program. Several years ago at the GE National Science Awards, three out of the four finalists were La Jolla High students.
Because the education environment is so extraordinarily high in La Jolla, all of our schools are extremely aware of the standards which the parent community expects. La Jolla High School, being one of the top public high schools academically in the country, sets a very high standard which our elementary and middle school children recognize. Parents are involved. Students, while facing the normal societal problems, are motivated to achieve. Academically, La Jolla is one of the finest communities in America. While Mission Hills, Point Loma, Del Mar and other northern areas in San Diego County are beautiful communities, they cannot touch La Jolla for academics.
